Title: Outpatient Counselor, Kirkwood Recovery Services
Division: Delaware Addiction Recovery Services
Reports to: Director of Outpatient and Mobile Services

SUMMARY: Deliver individual and group treatment to persons served through Kirkwood Recovery Centers' treatment programs The counselor is responsible for actively engaging persons served in the treatment process, utilizing various clinical techniques, additional peer support and communication with the treatment team to assist individuals through the course of treatment The counselor collaborates with persons served to provide clinical interventions, develop individualized treatment plans, and establish safe and supportive aftercare to encourage individuals with maintaining a recovery environment.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least five (3) years' experience working in Addiction Recovery and SUD
- CADC Certified
- Demonstrated ability to plan and use effective therapeutic interventions and counseling techniques, including medical and recovery model modalities, and medication assisted treatment.
- Capacity to create therapeutic alliance with persons served.
- Working knowledge of and demonstrated ability to use current diagnostic criteria, formulate required clinical documentation in accordance with NET, CARF, payor, and licensing body standards.
- Comprehensive knowledge of basic group dynamics and techniques.
- Understanding of case management resources, including referral, linkage, monitoring, coordination, and problem solving.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel at the intermediate to advanced level.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills demonstrated by the ability to complete multiple tasks in a productive and accurate manner in a demanding environment.
- Possess the ability to collaborate and work closely with a multifaceted and diverse team of individuals from a wide range of disciplines.
- Experience working with the addiction recovery community and other at-risk populations. Experience/expertise in clinical client assessment.
ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: (and other duties as assigned)
- Provide activities to achieve goals of treatment plans, including individual and group facilitation; and psychoeducation/lectures/presentations.
- Conduct crisis intervention; intervene and de-escalate crisis situations; assess risk of harm to self or others and arrange needed resources.
- Develop written treatment plans/updates and continuing care plans and make appropriate referrals; maintain electronic health records in accordance with standards.
- Referrals to supportive services such as vocational, medical, social services, housing authority, etc
- Advocacy on behalf of assigned caseload.
- Maintain close and cooperative relationships with community agencies and other public agencies in carrying out treatment plans.
- Provide screening, intake and assessments utilizing required instruments within appropriate timelines.
Conduct periodic reviews with managed care companies for authorization of treatment.
- Attend staff meetings/clinical supervision and other required meetings.
- Complete written discharge summaries and correspondence within established timelines.
- Provide consistent outreach with persons served who have become disengaged or are at risk of disengagement with treatment.
- Must demonstrate genuine empathy and concern for individuals as indicated in our corporate vision, mission, and values statements.
- Must be able to demonstrate sensitivity in all oral and written communications regarding persons served within the agency.
- Adhere to applicable city, county, state, and federal laws, and regulations, internal and CARF standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned under the supervision of Clinical Supervisor, Program Director and/or Executive Director.
- Must have current State clearances for Child Abuse, Criminal Records check, and contagious diseases.
- Ability to communicate verbally in English, read written or typed information, communicate legibly in writing, speak English clearly, and hear voice in conversational tone.
Salary : $40,000 - $50,000
