What are the responsibilities and job description for the ER Tech - Full Time position at NORTHEASTERN HEALTH SYSTEM?
Position Summary
Provides basic nursing care to patients with supervision by emergency department staff.
Position Accountabilities
Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Consistently follows established protocols and procedures.
Performs basic nursing procedures including thermal applications, non-sterile soaks, and application of simple dressings, perennial care, and urine testing.
Obtains and documents patient vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, weight, respiration and pulse.
Provides appropriate, direct patient care and personal assistance to patients, including, but not limited to bathing, oral hygiene, dressing, eating, and toileting and providing transport.
Demonstrates sensitivity to patient comfort and privacy and expresses interest in their progress.
Assists patients with activities of daily living, encouraging independent behavior when appropriate.
Prepares patients for scheduled procedures to assist in patient assessment.
Monitors medical condition of patients and reports changes to appropriate personnel.
Provides direct patient care to infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, using knowledge/skills of the unique requirements of each age group to ensure optimal patient care.
Maintains patient records and charts to ensure an accurate record of the patient’s medical treatment.
Orients, instructs, and trains assigned personnel. Communicates technical information in a manner appropriate for intended audience. Serves as a resource for co-workers.
Participates in required number of staff meetings per year and in-service meetings.
Cooperates with other personnel to achieve department objectives and maintain good employee relations, interdepartmental objectives, and infection control policies.
Maintains a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment of patients/families in accordance with hospital standards.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Performs treatment procedures such as 12 leak EKG, phlebotomy, and establishing peripheral IV sites.
Administers treatments within scope of practice (i.e. splinting and nebulized albuterol.)
Cleans and prepares rooms between procedures/patients and after terminal cleaning. Monitors and restocks supplies
ER Tech I
Minimum Education - High School or equivalent
Minimum Experience - Sufficient previous clinical experience in assigned areas
Required Certification/Registration - BLS/CPR Certification, NIMS: 100, 200
Preferred Education - Post High School Vocational/Specialized Training
Preferred Experience - One Year in hospital setting

Minimum Education - Certification High School or equivalent
Minimum Experience - Sufficient previous clinical experience in assigned areas
Required Certification/Registration - Oklahoma Nurse Aide Registry Certification or EMT Certification or a Bachelor’s
Degree in pertinent field BLS/CPR Certification
Preferred Experience - Previous clinical experience
