Position Summary
Provides professional nursing care under supervision, for assigned patients in assigned areas in medical/surgical units.
Position Accountabilities
Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
Administers and controls narcotics and medications.
Monitors medical condition of patients and reports changes to appropriate personnel.
Provides direct patient care from infancy through geriatrics, evaluates outcome, consults with providers, nursing personnel and other members of the multi-disciplinary team as required and adjusts nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care.
Performs basic nursing procedures.
Maintains a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients/families in accordance with hospital standards.
Assists physicians with examinations, procedures and other processes related to direct patient care.
Maintains patient’s medical records to ensure an accurate record of the patient’s medical treatment.
Cooperates with other personnel to achieve department objectives and maintain good employee relations.
Demonstrates sensitivity to patient’s comfort and privacy and expresses interest in their progress.
Monitors emotional/ physical stability of patients and reports changes to physician or charge nurse.
Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
Orients, instructs, and trains assigned personnel.
Provides health care instruction to patient and family members
Assists with patient discharge planning.
Attends meetings as required.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Minimum Education - Post High School Vocational/Specialized Training
Minimum Experience - Sufficient previous clinical experience
Required Course(s)/Training - Completion of accredited program for licensed practical nursing
Requited Certification/Registration - Current Oklahoma LPN license; BLS certification; ACLS; PALS; BASIC ARRYTHMIA, NIHSS
