What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant Resident - PRN position at NORTHEASTERN HEALTH SYSTEM?
Position Summary
Medical Assistants provide direct patient care under the supervision of a physician or other healthcare provider. The position will require clinic and/or specialty specific competencies depending on the clinic and patient population served.
Position Accountabilities
Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
Gathers and documents information about the patient condition, which includes lab values, pain levels, patient education needs, family/social history, medications and allergies and other relevant information depending on the clinic or specialty.
Interviews patients, measures vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, weight, respiration and pulse, and records information in the patients chart.
Contributes to the assessment/re-assessment of the patient.
Monitors medical condition of patients and reports changes to appropriate personnel.
Demonstrates sensitivity to patient’s comfort and privacy and expresses interest in their progress.
Manages large call volumes while maintaining excellent telephone etiquette.
Maintains patient documentation while observing confidentiality of the patient.
Organizes workflow to meet patient needs in a timely manner.
Cooperates with other personnel to achieve department objectives and maintain good employee relations, interdepartmental objectives, and infection control policies.
Maintains a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients/families in accordance with hospital standards.
Participates in educational programs and in-service meetings.
Attends meetings as required.
Cleans and prepares rooms between procedures and after terminal cleaning. Monitors and restocks supplies.
Orients, instructs, and trains assigned personnel.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Minimum Education - High School or equivalent
Required Certification/Registration - BLS certification
Preferred Education - Completion of Medical Assistant Certification or Registration program
Preferred Experience - Previous clinical experience in the Ambulatory setting
Preferred Certification/Registration - Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant
