What are the responsibilities and job description for the RN Critical Care Unit- PRN position at NORTHEASTERN HEALTH SYSTEM?
Position Summary
Provides professional nursing care for assigned patients in critical care areas according to established procedures.
Position Accountabilities
Maintains established departmental policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
Documents initial nursing histories, assesses patients’ conditions and develops individual care plans
for patients assigned to the unit.
Oversees the delivery of patient care for a group of patients; directs and delegates patient care
assignments to nursing staff working on the floor, based on acuteness of patient care needs and staff
availability.
Provides direct patient care, evaluates outcomes, consults with other specialists as required and adjusts nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care.
Administers and controls narcotics and medications.
Maintains a safe comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients/families in accordance with hospital standards.
Provides appropriate , direct patient care in assigned area
Assists physicians with examinations, procedures and other processes related
to direct patient care.
Demonstrates sensitivity to patient comfort and privacy.
Observes emotional stability of patients, expresses interest in their progress and prepares for continuing care after discharge.
Monitors and ensures accuracy of recording on patient medical records. Maintains all required reports, records, statistics, etc.
Responds to code calls and directs codes when no physician is available.
Assists other members of the nursing team and/or other disciplines.
Provides health care instruction to patient and family members.
Assists attending physicians and aids patients and families as needed in times of stress or crisis.
Arranges for patients’ ordered diagnostic and therapeutic services.
Assists in formulating and screening Quality Assurance criteria and providing in-service training for staff.
Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
Attends meetings as required.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Minimum Education - Associates Degree/Diploma
Minimum Experience - Sufficient previous clinical experience
Required Certification/Registration - Current Oklahoma RN license. BLS certification; ACLS certification within 6 months,NIHSS
Preferred Education - Bachelor’s Degree
