What are the responsibilities and job description for the Room Service Ambassador - Full Time position at NORTHEASTERN HEALTH SYSTEM?
Position Summary
Obtains meal orders and delivers meals to patients in their rooms in a manner that supports the Hospital’s commitment to the Culture of Excellence. Those in this position may actively perform essential food service functions that may include operating food service equipment; cleaning and sanitizing dishware, equipment, and food production areas; and maintaining safe food production and service areas in order to provide appealing, appetizing, and wholesome food to those served by the Culinary and Nutrition Services Department.
Position Accountabilities
Maintains established department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, and safety, environmental and infection control standards and assists with the development of new policies and procedures.
Maintains an attitude of cooperation and teamwork; polite, respectful and courteous.
Prepares coffee, tea and supplement shakes for patient line service.
Receives diet orders and census provided through EMR, and checks message center for diet changes.
Set up patient diet cards according to diet ordered, noting allergies, food texture, food preferences, ready to take patient meal choices.
Visit patients in room, offering food choices and takes patient’s meal order, following physician diet order.
Check for appropriate foods per physician’s diet order.
Serves on patient tray line as assigned, following established schedule and procedures, assisting Ambassador II in setting up trays and/or delivering patient trays.
Delivers tray to patient in room, opening foods and silverware.
Return to patient room to check patient meal acceptance.
Cleans kitchen patient service area according to procedures.
Stocks patient line area.
Returns carts with dirty patient dishes to dish room for cleaning.
Assist with and able to operate dishwasher to ensure dishes and utensils are clean.
Pulls clean dishes and stores in proper location when dry.
Collects and disposes of trash, cans, bottles, boxes and transports to disposal area.
Cleans and sanitizes work areas.
Fills requisitions as directed.
Sweeps and cleans floors in work area.
Participates in educational programs, in-service meetings and other meetings as required.
Completes documentation on dish machine sanitizer, food temperatures, refrigerator temperatures, cleaning schedule as directed.
Completes annual Care Learning within required time frame.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Minimum Education - High School Diploma or Equivalent
Minimum Experience - On the job training
Required Certification/Registration - Food Handlers Permit issued by the Oklahoma State Health Department
