What are the responsibilities and job description for the Student Radiology Tech - PRN position at NORTHEASTERN HEALTH SYSTEM?
Position Summary
Performs diagnostic medical radiographic under the direction of a Registered or Registry-Eligible Radiologic Technologist.
Position Accountabilities
Maintains established department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, and safety.
Prepares written documentation as required by the profession and the department, such as evaluation results, individualized treatment plans, progress reports, and other such reports.
Provides radiologic services to infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, using knowledge/skills unique to the requirements of each age group to ensure optimal patient care.
Develops film including evaluating film for technical quality.
Prepares the patient, explains the procedure, and ensures patient’s cooperation during the examination.
Reviews and evaluates completed tests for quality, completeness, and type of test ordered; ensures quality images.
Provide on call coverage as assigned by Director.
Attends IV Therapy Class and provide Director with proof of attendance.
Obtains patient history, answers patient questions and explains the procedure.
Schedules cases to coordinate with other patient examinations.
Transports patients to radiographic room; prepares and maintains room.
Maintains darkroom chemistry levels in replenishment tank.
Maintains department facilities, equipment, and materials in a condition to promote efficiency, health, comfort, and safety of patients and staff.
Requests and orders supplies as necessary to keep materials on hand at all times.
Performs the duties of CAT Scan Technologist as needed.
Maintains X-ray and other equipment in efficient operating order; performs preventative maintenance on a regularly scheduled basis; contacts outside service for major malfunctions.
Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of work areas.
Enhances professional growth, and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, inservice meetings, and workshops.
Checks equipment, supplies and accessories on a regular basis.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Position Limitations
Cannot inject contrast agent into patients. Must be done by Registered or Registry-Eligible Technologists.
Minimum Education - Currently enrolled in approved Radiology Program
Minimum Experience - Must have completed 2 Semesters in Radiology Program & be in good standing.
Required Course(s)/Training - Accredited program in radiologic technology
Preferred Experience - One year work experience in health care field
