Position Summary
We are seeking an MEP Estimator with experience in commercial mechanical, electrical, and plumbing projects, including service work, special projects, and mechanical room renovations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in estimating HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems, including chiller renovations, air handlers, cooling towers, piping projects, electrical service, control work, base building projects, and large-scale plumbing systems. This role requires expertise in cost estimating, labor pricing, vendor negotiations, and maintaining strong customer relationships.
Responsibilities
• Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial MEP service work, special projects, and mechanical room renovations.
• Review blueprints, MEP drawings, and project specifications to develop accurate estimates.
• Perform material take-offs and labor estimates manually for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing scopes.
• Attend site walkthroughs and pre-bid meetings.
• Develop and maintain a strong customer base, building long-term relationships.
• Work closely with vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure accurate pricing.
• Ensure bids are submitted on time and within budget.
• Maintain ongoing relationships with clients to support future business opportunities.
• Monitor project scope and potential changes that could impact estimates.
Qualifications
• 5 years of experience estimating commercial MEP projects, including service work, special projects, and mechanical room renovations.
• Experience in HVAC (chiller renovations, air handlers, cooling towers, piping projects), electrical (service, control work, base building), and plumbing (large-scale systems, mechanical room upgrades, multi-unit residential buildings).
• Strong understanding of MEP systems, including electrical distribution, mechanical piping, ductwork, and plumbing installations.
• Ability to manage multiple bids and meet deadlines.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or equivalent experience preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
