Position Summary: Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital is opening a behavioral health unit and looking for a full-time LPN to join the team.
Primary responsibilities include providing direct and individualized care to patients including:
- As supervised and delegated by a registered nurse, provides direct patient care to patients in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
- Prioritizes and organizes delivery of patient care under the supervision and delegation of an RN; accepting a variety of assignments and consulting with other disciplines as appropriate.
- Assists in staff development activities.
- Orients, instructs and trains others, emphasizing departmental, as well as interdepartmental cooperation and teamwork.
- Demonstrates sensitivity to patients’ comfort and privacy and expresses interest in their progress and aids patients and families as needed in times of stress or crisis.
- Under the direction of an RN, contributes to the assessment of patients by collecting data for analysis by an RN.
- Performs plan of care interventions, including specimen collection and wound care.
- May administer medication as directed by the Physician and RN.
- Documents patient care given.
- Assists RN with development of plan of care.
- Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
- Monitors, documents, and communicates patient's status and reactions to interventions with RN, physician, patient, and families.
- Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Graduate of a program in discipline required.
- Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
- License and Certifications: Must have Current Nevada LPN License. Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire (non-AHA BLS certification valid only from date of hire for 6 months or up until the date of expiration, not to exceed 6 months). Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 90 days of hire. If the employee holds an instructor certification, the instructor certification is allowed.
