Position Summary:

Are you currently a 2^nd year nursing student looking for more exposure to working in a hospital setting prior to launching your career as an RN? 

Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital is looking for PRN Nurse Externs to work in various departments in our facility.  Patients range from geriatric to neonatal.  Predominately working 12-hours shifts but will vary dependent on department needs. 

Apprentice Nurses at NNRH are expected to perform job duties according to the Nevada State Nursing Practice Act and in accordance with NNRH policies and procedures.  Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

·         Nevada State Board of Nursing Skills List as passed off in the clinical setting in the nursing program.

·         Enter orders and maintain complete and accurate Health Information records for the unit.

·         Answer call lights and phones

·         Perform ADL’s on patients.

·         Monitor patient progress with the plan of care and identify changes in patient condition.

·         Advocate on behalf of patients and families

·         Provide individualized education to patients and families.

·         Duties as assigned by RN’s.

·         Carry out technical skills safely, effectively, efficiently, and within one’s scope of practice.

Successful incumbent must have the ability to:

·         Multitask in a fast-paced work environment while maintaining patient safety and quality of care.

·         Demonstrate consistent ability to use nursing clinical judgment in one’s practice.

·         Recognize and report changes in patient condition when health, safety, or quality is at risk.

·         Collaborate with members of the healthcare team to deliver patient-centered care.

·         Contribute to a healthy workplace environment by managing conflict using professional communication skills.

·         Use quality assurance and performance improvement data to improve one’s practice.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Pre-Requisites for nursing, or in the 2^nd year of the nursing program.

Required licenses/certifications: Current C.N.A. license in Nevada preferred.   Out of state C.N.A. licenses may be considered.  Current BLS/CPR for healthcare provider verification.
