Job Description
Northeastern State University (NSU) is seeking a qualified Adjunct Instructor to teach American Sign Language (ASL) courses. The instructor will be responsible for providing high-quality instruction, assessing student progress, and fostering an inclusive learning environment that supports students in developing ASL proficiency and understanding Deaf culture.
Key Responsibilities
Teach ASL courses in alignment with NSU’s curriculum and learning objectives. Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans that incorporate ASL structure, grammar, and cultural components. Assess student learning through assignments, exams, and interactive activities. Provide timely and constructive feedback to support student progress. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, participation, and performance.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in ASL, Deaf Studies, Linguistics, Education, or a related field OR a bachelor’s degree with extensive ASL teaching experience. Native or near-native proficiency in ASL. Knowledge of Deaf culture and experience engaging with the Deaf community.
Salary
$800/Credit hour
