The human resource generalist position assists employees with benefits enrollment and questions, verifies all insurance billing, maintains employee databases and files, and ensures compliance with required benefit notices. This position also assists the Director of Human Resources in a variety of other human resources areas to ensure proactive, efficient service to stakeholders.
General Duties and Responsibilities
Administer various employee benefits programs, such as group health, flexible spending accounts, dental and vision, and disability, and life insurance. Verify the calculation of the monthly premium statements for all group insurance policies and maintain statistical data relative to premiums, claims and costs. Resolve administrative problems with the carrier representatives. Administer COBRA. Review and respond to unemployment claims with appropriate documentation. Review monthly unemployment statements. Coordinate workers' compensation claims with third-party administrators and follow up on claims. Prepare and set up meetings designed to help employees obtain information and understand company benefits and other related incentive programs. Ensure distribution of required employee notices. Serves as initial point of contact for inquiries related to leaves of absences (Sabbatical, FMLA, Uncompensated, Professional Compensated). Schedules meetings with the Director of Human Resources to help employees obtain additional information and understand potential salary impacts. Assists Director of Human Resources in completing benefits reporting requirements. Partners with the Business Office on HR / payroll / benefit related activities to include l eave, and attendance related matters. Manages all leaves of absence for various employee groups including reporting of leave for attendance purposes in the absence management system.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field, preferred
- Experience with employee benefits, FMLA, worker's compensation or ADA, preferred
- Other education / experience as accepted by the school board and administration
