Position Purpose
Oversees and supports students enrolled in the district's online learning program within the district, including but not limited to coordinating all aspects of the online learning experience, student eligibility, orientation, academic progress, attendance, and communication with families. The principal is responsible for the recruitment of students enrolled in cyber charter schools back to the district as well as oversight the district gifted program
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Oversees the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of rigorous, engaging, and accessible online courses and programs.
Implement data-driven strategies to enhance student retention, achievement, and overall learning experiences.
Ensure all online programs meet accreditation standards, regulatory requirements, and institutional policies.
Conducts targeted recruitment initiatives for the return of district students from other online learning platforms, schools, and organizations.
Collaborate with school leadership to assess student eligibility for online learning.
Provide orientation and support to students and families prior to program participation, ensuring a clear understanding of program expectations and platform usage.
Ensure all students have the necessary technology and access to online resources, working with IT support as needed.
Monitor and record student attendance, addressing any attendance concerns in a timely manner including the development of student attendance improvement plans.
Track student academic progress, providing outreach to students and families as necessary to ensure success, including arranging home visits when needed.
Ensure accurate grade reporting for online students at the end of each term.
Facilitate regular meetings with school administration and counselors to review student progress and identify any areas of concern.
Address and manage student behavior in the online learning environment to maintain a positive and productive online learning experience.
Coordinate with external partners to ensure compliance with district data reporting requirements.
Provides oversight to the district's gifted programming and ensures equitable identification and access to gifted education.
Ensures curriculum, instructional strategies, and enrichment opportunities align with best practices in gifted education, while also advocating for the unique academic, social and emotional needs of gifted students.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Services, Assistant Superintendent and / or Superintendent.
Qualifications
Administrative I or II certification (Principal PK-12) issued by the PA Department of Education
Other education / experience as accepted by the school board and administration.
