Northern Air Maintenance Services (NAMS) is an FAA certified 14 CFR Part 145 Repair Station headquartered in Anchorage, Alaska. We are the sole maintenance provider for ConocoPhillips' fleet of three DHC-8-400 (Q400) aircraft. In addition to maintenance services, NAMS handles ground operations, inventory control, and passenger screening for all flights between Anchorage, Kuparuk and Alpine. Bonus Information:

Summary:
The Lead Technician is responsible for assigning, leading, and directing of other aircraft maintenance technicians under their supervision. They also provide training and coaching in performing aircraft and component maintenance and modifications. The Lead is a working member of their crews and participates in the daily tasks as required.
Responsibilities:
- Troubleshooting and Repair:
- Diagnose and repair defective aircraft avionics discrepancies efficiently.
- Locate and disassemble electrical parts and assemblies to facilitate testing and repairs.
- Testing and Calibration:
- Attach fittings, clamps, lines, and hoses to test equipment, pressure or vacuum test carts, and aircraft system components for testing.
- Check the accuracy (calibration) of navigation equipment.
- Evaluate the performance of newly installed equipment under actual operating conditions.
- Electrical Systems:
- Perform wire harness build-up and create breakout boxes for troubleshooting.
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled aircraft and component inspections.
- General Maintenance:
- Perform general ramp service for customer aircraft.
- Will perform the duties of Flight mechanic when scheduled.
- Compliance and Documentation:
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with FAA regulations and company procedures.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all maintenance and repair activities.
- Other Duties:
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
- Must possess a valid Airman Certificate with Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) ratings.
- Graduate of an approved avionics school; or two years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- FCC General Radiotelephone Operators License (Preferred).
- Moderate degree of reasoning, mathematical, and language skills (High School level).
Language Skills:
- Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking the English language.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with coworkers and customers.
Computer Skills:
- Solid understanding of computers and Microsoft Office applications.
- Proven understanding of TRAX (Preferred).
Other Skills:
- Active driver's license.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions in practical situations.
- Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and maintain qualifications in accordance with DOT/FAA regulations.
- Must have a valid Passport or the ability to obtain a passport within the first 6 Months of employment.
Travel:
- Occasional in/out of country travel will be required.
Physical Demands:
- The work is classified as "heavy."
- Ability to perform the tasks and responsibilities of the position safely and effectively, including:
- Lifting up to 70 lbs.
- Climbing, reaching, standing, pushing,2 and/or pulling up to 100 lbs.
- Exposure to:
- High noise levels.
- Moving aircraft and equipment.
- Dirt, dust, fumes, heat, and cold.
- Exposure to hazardous materials and exhaust fumes.
- Working in confined spaces for extended periods.
- Working outside in harsh winter conditions for up to 2 hours at a time.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators, may be required.
