What are the responsibilities and job description for the Guide Tours to the Arctic Circle! position at Northern Alaska Tour Company?
Guiding with Northern Alaska Tour Company is a high-energy position best suited to individuals who make social connections easily, who genuinely love interacting with others and who thrive in positions of responsibility. We are looking for those that have previous GUIDE experience, especially in Alaska. Hospitality related experience in Alaska is alternatively a PLUS.
All guides start out conducting our Arctic Circle Drive Adventure. This long-time staple of NATC begins in Fairbanks and takes guests 200 miles to the Arctic Circle. The total distance to the Circle and back is almost exactly 400 miles - a fairly slow and rough 400 miles. This is typically an 18 hour day for our guides; which requires an incredible amount of stamina. For this reason, guiding our tours on the Dalton highway is NOT for everyone! To balance out such robust days, our guides have one to three days off in between each tour.
Our 120 hour Professional Vehicle Operator Training program begins in Mid-April . Guides must be 21 years of age to obtain a Class B CDL with our company. Our training will result in obtaining a class B commercial driver license with airbrakes and passenger endorsements.
Guiding begins in late May and the midnight sun season winds down in late September. Most guides decide to stay on for the winter months, which is an option if someone wants year-round work. We provide an extremely flexible schedule so that you can plan a summer doing the other things you like to do in the midnight sun!
*Shared coworker housing is available to a limited number of guide applicants for the Summer 2025 season.
