Job Overview
Northern Anesthesia Providers PC is seeking a Billing and Follow Up Representative to join our team. This is a great opportunity for someone who has previous billing experience, insurance experience, or is willing to learn the ins and outs of anesthesia billing. The medical biller for Northern Anesthesia Providers is responsible for entering and submitting anesthesia billing charges as well as doing insurance follow up for denied and rejected claims. Some other responsibilities include answering phones and doing daily statement batches.
This job is 100% in-person. There is no remote or hybrid work option for the billing representative position. This job is 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm with a one hour lunch break.
Preferred Skills
- Data entry skills, including previous data entry work.
- Medical billing knowledge, including previous use of billing software.
- Code knowledge, including ICD-10, CPT, and ASA codes.
- Follow up skills and previous experience communicating with health insurance companies.
- Professional phone etiquette skills.
- Computer skills including Microsoft suite. Previous experience in billing software is preferred.
- Organization/filing skills.
Responsibilities
- Billing: The representative will be reading billing summaries/coding from our coder and entering that information into our billing software to send claims to insurance companies. This aspect of the job includes data entry and the ability to focus for long periods of time.
- Follow Up: The representative will be reaching out to insurance companies when there is a rejection or problem with a claim to resolve it and receive payment. This includes emailing, calling, or faxing various insurance companies. This aspect includes some problem-solving skills as well as professional phone etiquette.
- Statements: The representative will assess, print, and mail statements each day to patients who have balances owed. This aspect of the job includes paper folding and envelope stuffing.
- Basic office duties: The representative, as well as the other employees in the office, is expected to answer phone calls from patients and answer basic billing/insurance questions for these patients. This aspect of the job includes professional phone etiquette and patient demographic verification for accessing confidential health information.
- Preferably the right person for this job will be someone who, once trained, can self-motivate and work by themselves to complete their tasks on time with minimal oversight by management.
Experience
- Proven experience in medical billing, coding, or related fields is preferred.
- Familiarity with medical office operations and medical records management.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and coding systems, including ICD-10 and CPT.
Mandatory Qualifications
- Must be able to work in-office for an 8 hour day with a 1 hour lunch break each day during normal business hours.
- Must be able to sit at a desk for 8 hours a day.
- Must be able to use a computer for 8 hours a day.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds (filing boxes of paper).
Office Environment

- Our office is open concept, with each employee having their own desk/computer space to conduct their work.
- Our office keeps traditional business hours, opening at 8am and closing at 5pm Monday – Friday.
