Position Summary: We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Phlebotomist Technician to join our team in Laconia, NH. This individual will be responsible for the collection of blood specimens in a clinical laboratory setting. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, a strong attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform venipuncture and capillary collections from patients of all ages.
- Prepare and label specimens accurately and in compliance with hospital policies and protocols.
- Assist patients with any questions or concerns during the blood collection process, ensuring a calm and professional environment.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines.
- Ensure proper handling and transportation of specimens to the appropriate laboratory department.
- Work collaboratively with healthcare staff to coordinate and prioritize blood collection needs.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to infection control practices and safety procedures.
- Document all procedures and patient interactions in an accurate and timely manner.
- Maintain inventory of phlebotomy supplies and notify supervisor of any shortages.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of an accredited Phlebotomy Technician training program preferred.
- Certification as a Phlebotomist (PBT) by a nationally recognized certifying agency (e.g., ASCP, NHA, or equivalent) is preferred.
- Previous phlebotomy experience is preferred, but not required.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately label and handle specimens.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain professionalism and sensitivity when interacting with patients.
- Knowledge of laboratory safety standards and protocols.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, carry, or transport laboratory specimens and equipment.
- Ability to use fine motor skills for accurate specimen collection.
