Job Overview
The Sterile Processing Technician plays a crucial role in healthcare facilities by ensuring that medical instruments and equipment are properly sterilized to prevent infections and maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
Duties
- Perform sterilization procedures on medical equipment following established protocols
- Inspect, assemble, and package surgical instruments and trays
- Operate sterilization equipment such as autoclaves and ultrasonic cleaners
- Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes and equipment maintenance
- Adhere to aseptic techniques to prevent contamination
- Assist in inventory management of sterile supplies
Qualifications
- Prior experience in sterile processing is preferred but not required
- Knowledge of aseptic techniques, medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology is beneficial
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment
- Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician is a plus
