The Necropsy Technician will support necropsy procedures, including setup, tissue preparation, tissue/organ accountabilities, and maintaining equipment, while also mentoring entry-level technicians. Responsibilities include study setup, operating necropsy equipment, collaborating with Study Directors on protocols, performing advanced euthanasia and prosection, and collecting samples like urine, blood, and CSF. The technician will also manage necropsy data, review study books, stock supplies, and maintain advanced equipment. They will handle drug administration, anesthesia induction, and preparation of solutions and fixatives. This is a non-exempt role that is eligible for overtime after 40 hours in a workweek and has no supervisory responsibilities.
Experience with a high school diploma or 1 year with an undergraduate degree is preferred. LAT certification is also preferred. The role involves working in a laboratory setting with exposure to animal pathogens and chemicals, requiring the use of personal protective gear. Physical demands include lifting up to 50 lbs and the ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and extended shifts.
