Role Summary

The Sample Management Supervisor will engage in leadership and development of shipping, processing, and labeling technicians. They are responsible for maintaining departmental schedules, supply inventory, maintenance of laboratory equipment, training, and communicating expectations, business needs, and opportunities for improvement. The Sample Management Supervisor will support cross-departmental collaboration, implementing policies, processes, and procedures that affect employees and group workflow.

This is an exempt position that and has supervisory responsibility.

Role Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development of the department including, but not limited to, communicating expectations and business needs to direct reports.
• Oversee performance, development, training needs, and accomplishments for all direct reports.
• In collaboration with Human Resources, hire staff as needed and resolve all employee relations issues.
• Identify and / or provide training to staff.
• Develop and maintain departmental systems and SOPs. Assists in the development and communication of departmental policies and procedures.
• Serve as the liaison between staff, other departments / groups, and management to communicate expectations and business needs.
• Contribute to scheduling, planning, and data review.
• Assure quality and timely performance of activities and tests.
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions.
• Coordinate the support of outside contractors or vendors.
• Track metrics.
• Assume responsibility for technical staff compliance with SOPs, protocols, and regulatory guidelines for all direct reports.
• Recognize, initiate, and lead process improvement activities.
• Other duties as assigned.
