Job Overview
Under the direction of the Northern Cheyenne School Board Of Education. As the chief executive officer of the school district, the school Superintendent is responsible for providing visionary leadership and strategic direction to ensure the highest possible standards of educational excellence. This role involves overseeing all aspects of the district's operations, including curriculum development, professional development, budget management, employee retention and facilities maintenance. The Superintendent is expected to work collaboratively with the school board, principals, teachers, parents, and the wider community and must possess the ability to communicate clearly as well as to be able to listen to and consider a wide variety of viewpoints and ideas. Must carry out the policies of the NCTS Board. The Superintendent plays a critical role in shaping the future of education in the district, ensuring that every student has access to a high-quality, well-rounded education that prepares them for success in a rapidly changing world.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:
· Ability to build and maintain effective professional relationships with staff, students, parents/guardians, and the public.
· Acts on own discretion if action is necessary in any manner not covered by Board policy, reports such action to the Board as soon as practicable, and recommends policy in order to provide guidance in the future. Direct and coordinates activities concerned with administration of tribe, state in accordance with the Board of Education standards by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.
· Formulates plans and policies for educational programs and submits them to the Board of Education for approval.
· Directs preparation and presentation of the school budget and determine amount of finance issues required. Guides the process of fiscal planning and budgetary development and interpretation.
· Maintain adequate records for the schools, including a system of financial accounts; business and property records; personnel, school population and scholastic records.
· The ability to effectively lead with integrity and inspire a collaborative team-oriented environment focused on the education and support of our Native American children.
· Communicates directly or through delegation, actions of the Board to all employees and receives from employees any communications to be made to the Board.
· Inspires trust, has high levels of self-confidence and optimism, and models high standards of integrity and personal performance.
· Demonstrates strong communication skills: engaging in consistent transparency and speaking, listening and writing.
· Supervises examining, appointing, training and promotion of certified teaching staff.
· Assumes ultimate responsibility for the assignment of students and the various specialized areas of administration including student services, business management, transportation and cafeteria staff.
· Engages in active listening and considers a variety of viewpoints.
· Recognizes and strengthens the climate and culture of Northern Cheyenne Tribal School and Northern Cheyenne’s parent and student community.
· Delegates authority appropriately while maintaining accountability.
· Is committed to academic excellence and the long-term financial health of district.
· Maintains a “student first” philosophy in all decisions.
· Possesses the ability to enhance student performance, particularly in pinpointing and reducing disparities in student achievement.
· Makes recommendations and decisions that are data driven.

· Possesses expertise in attracting and retaining outstanding personnel for the district.
· Other duties may be assigned.
CREDENTAILS:
Valid Montana Credential or license authorizing service as a Superintendent of Schools.
EDUCATION:
Master’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
QUALITFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
