POSITION SUMMARY:
The role of the shop/yard laborer is to support the teams to accomplish their required objectives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The following statements reflect the general details necessary to describe the major functions of this position and are not intended to be a detailed description of all the work/functions that may be required. Other duties may be assigned. Individual will work a varied schedule based on client needs.
- Load/unload trucks and execute job site deliveries in accordance with company safety and regulatory guidelines.
- Ensure the cleanliness of company vehicles, equipment and premises.
- Perform minor vehicle and equipment repairs and preventative maintenance activities as needed.
- Involved in the manufacturing of jobsite materials (may include fabrication/welding).
- Successfully inventory trucks with required materials and equipment.
- Execute the material stocking process from vendors (ensure accuracy of PO).
- Maintain the yard and all other Northern Concrete Construction, Inc. facility/property.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
· Less than high school education; or up to one-month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Basic knowledge of vehicle and equipment repair and maintenance.
· Understanding of safe load securement requirements.
· Knowledge of industry and equipment.
· Understanding of applicable safety regulations.
LANGUAGE SKILLS.
· Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
· Ability to write simple correspondence.
· Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
· Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
· Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
· Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
· Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
· Ability to stand between 1/3 and 2/3 of the time.
· Ability to walk between 1/3 and 2/3 of the time.
