What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environmental, Health & Safety Coordinator position at Northern Engraving Corporation?
Overall Purpose of Position
Reporting to the Regional Environmental, Health & Safety Manager, North America the Environmental, Health & Safety Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring environmental regulatory compliance, a safe and healthy work environment for employees, and the cohesive operation of the department. The EHS Coordinator will also make recommendations for continuous improvement and lead these initiatives for all of Northern Engraving's manufacturing locations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Preparation, submittal and resolution of review issues for all regulatory permitting and improvements
Ensure timely submission of regulatory reports and data based on legal obligations and requirements
Prepare and submit air compliance deviation reports
Coordinate the maintenance of the environmental management system ISO 14001 and the implantation of ISO 45001
Maintain expertise in applicable areas such as air compliance, hazardous waste, waste water treatment, remediation programs and OSHA standards
Lead efforts to obtain and maintain Green Tier status for Wisconsin facilities
Schedules, coordinates, and participates in safety inspections and audits at all manufacturing facilities identifying existing or potential environmental concerns and/or occupational health & safety hazards
Recommends preventative measures where indicated and ensure compliance with company policies and government regulations
Prepare full root cause analysis for all incidents/accidents, identifying and implementing corrective actions, and auditing to ensure successful implementation and results
Assist in Workers Compensation case management and return to work programs
Coordinate and conduct plant safety training, prevention programs, and educational guidance
Data entry for monthly reporting which is cascaded to company executives (i.e. incident rates, severity, lost work hours, etc.)
Evaluate and recommend safety equipment and devices
Use lean best practices to improve efficiencies within the programs, policies, procedures and work flow
Lead EHS teams at all facilities
Provide support and direction to achieve the EHS vision through management commitment and employee ownership
Other duties and tasks as assigned
Skills and Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of Environmental, Health and Safety supervisory experience in a manufacturing organization (automotive OEM or Tier experience highly preferred)
Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering, Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene or other related field
Experience with air reporting and permitting, Clean Air Act, and other regulatory requirements
Working knowledge of environmental remediation programs strongly preferred
Extensive knowledge of industrial safety, waste water programs, OSHA regulations, and accident prevention
Ability to systematically analyze hazards (through the use of problem solving tools) and recommend corrective actions where indicated
Excellent organizational and time management skills with a proven ability to meet project deadlines
Strong attention to detail
High level of initiative, with the ability to work well in a team environment
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
Ability to gain consensus and positively reinforce change
Proficient with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel
