RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Selects proper R&F technical factors for individual patients. Selects and operates R&F equipment and systems as specified in operations manuals, procedure manuals, and as directed for the purpose of medical radiological imaging for patients presenting for routine or acute radiographic or fluoroscopic procedures, trauma and/or portable R&F procedures, and surgical R&F procedures.
- Uses CR, PACS, and tele-radiology effectively. Ensures R and L are labeled.
- Provides radiation protection in accordance with written safety standards.
- Assists physician in administering radiopaque IV contrast media.
- Practices aseptic and isolation techniques to prevent cross-contamination.
- Individual Image Reject rate must be less than 5%. Successfully pass annual competencies.
- Deals with patients in a courteous and timely manner and provides a friendly reception. Follows 2-ID process for patient identification. Wears proper attire while on duty.
- Willingly rotates within the section by shift and assignment as required or directed. Covers open shifts as assigned on the work schedules. Performs basic clerical duties and transports patients as necessary/directed to maintain adequate patient flow as deemed appropriate by the Director of Imaging Services or his/her designate.
- Performs other job related functions as directed and/or delegated by the Director of Imaging Services, and/or Radiology Imaging Coordinator, Radiologists, and/or Medical Staff. Takes on-call assignments as scheduled.
- Provides coverage for the performance of Radiology imaging procedures in the O.R. and in day surgery area on a rotational basis as assigned by the Radiology Imaging Coordinator and/or Director of Imaging Services.
- Will participate in Performance Improvement activities as required/directed.
- Promotes adherence to Joint Commission’s NPSG’s. Assures all legal compliance aspects of the job are satisfied.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate of an AMA approved and/or JRCERT and SACS accredited school of Radiologic Technology; ARRT eligible at a minimum
- Registered in Radiography by the ARRT, or become registered within 12 months of hire
- Demonstrates the appropriate skills and ability, based on the scope of practice or level of training, to assess, treat, and/or care for the patient based on their age
