The Asphalt Paving Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of asphalt paving equipment. The pieces of equipment this position may operate are asphalt pavers, screeds, and tractors (box drags). Job posting for the 2025 construction season with anticipated season start in April 2025.

Duties and responsibilities
- Operate equipment in accordance with company procedures and safety regulations
- Monitor operational condition of equipment check for loose parts, ensure that machine is operating properly, and that machine is kept clean and maintained daily
- Check all fluid levels daily and perform daily walk-around inspection, to include greasing as necessary, when operating equipment
- Paver operator must have the ability to hold a straight line and grade while watching for overhead obstructions
- Paver operator will set paving speed that balances tons per hour, job capacity and compaction on paver
- Direct truck driver to enter paver smoothly, raise and lower box, and exit paver when empty
- Screed Operator will establish and maintain proper head of material and mat quality
- Paver Operator will start and stop the paver successfully to prevent end-of-load roughness and beginning-of-load rise
- Operate the equipment in the right direction and angles to prevent accidents and damage of property
- Operate equipment in various situations, maintaining proper awareness of one’s surroundings
- Report needs for large repairs to appropriate parties
- All other duties as assigned, delegated, or necessary for operations
Qualifications
- Minimum two years of operating Asphalt Paving Equipment
- Experience on multiple pieces of construction equipment is preferred
- Possess a valid driver’s license
- Ability to pass a pre-employment urine drug test and comply with drug and alcohol policies during employment
Working conditions
- Outdoor environment subject to changing conditions and temperatures
- Occasional exposures to fumes, dust, odors, heights, and loud noises.
- May be required to work 65 hours, 6 days a week.

- Verbal, auditory, and written capabilities to effectively communicate in an articulate manner.
- Clarity of vision at varying distances to perform various work assignments.
- Standing, walking, or sitting for extended periods of time.
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a variety of specialized tools and equipment.
- Reaching overhead, above the shoulders, and horizontally.
- Occasional bending, kneeling, or crouching.
- Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling object(s) weighing up to 50 pounds
