What are the responsibilities and job description for the Concrete Paver Operator position at Northern Improvement Company?
Safe and efficient operation of slipform Concrete Paving Machine and/or curb and gutter machine (Gomaco, Wirtgen, or Guntert & Zimmerman). Paving machines and work may vary from mainline concrete paving to curb and gutter paving. This position will work around Bismarck and for the Mainline Paving crew. The Mainline Concrete crew travels throughout North Dakota completing primarily interstate and airport jobs. Job posting for the 2025 construction season with anticipated season start in mid April-early May 2025.

Duties and responsibilities
- Operate various brands and styles of slip-form pavers and/or curb and gutter machines for roadway, airport, and commercial projects
- Assist in machine setup and width changes and conduct pre-operational checks of equipment
- Operate construction equipment in accordance with company procedures and safety regulations
- Perform daily maintenance, cleaning, and safety checks of equipment
- Operate equipment in a variety of situations and environments while maintaining proper awareness of one’s surroundings
- Report need for large repairs to appropriate parties
- May be required to perform general labor duties as deemed necessary
- All other duties as assigned, delegated, or necessary for operations
Qualifications
- Minimum two years of experience operating a slip-form concrete paving machines
- Experience on multiple pieces of construction equipment is preferred
- Possess a valid driver’s license
- Ability to pass a pre-employment urine drug test and comply with drug and alcohol policies during employment

- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a variety of specialized tools and equipment
