The Asphalt Roller Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of equipment to compact earth, subgrade, and sub-base asphalt surfaces in the construction of highways and streets. May be required to travel depending on the crew and job site locations. Job posting for the 2025 construction season with anticipated season start in April 2025.

Duties and responsibilities
- Operate construction equipment following company procedures and safety regulations
- Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment
- Operate the equipment in the right direction and angles to prevent accidents and damage to property
- Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment, and lubricate, refill, and clean equipment as necessary
- Understand material thickness, type of material being laid, and material temperature for determining the rolling range
- Assist paving crew with hand rolling, manholes, and catch basins
- Operate equipment in various situations, maintaining proper awareness of one’s surroundings
- Report the need for large repairs to the appropriate parties
- All other duties as assigned, delegated, or necessary for operations
Position Requirements
Qualifications
- Minimum one year of asphalt roller experience
- Experience with multiple pieces of construction equipment is a plus
- Possess a valid driver’s license
- Ability to pass a pre-employment urine drug test and comply with drug and alcohol policies during employment
Working conditions
- Outdoor environment subject to changing conditions and temperatures
- Occasional exposures to fumes, dust, odors, heights, and loud noises.
- May be required to work 50 hours, 6 days a week.
Physical requirements
- Verbal, auditory, and written capabilities to effectively communicate in an articulate manner.
- Clarity of vision at varying distances to perform various work assignments.
- Standing, walking, or sitting for extended periods of time.
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a variety of specialized tools and equipment.
- Reaching overhead, above the shoulders, and horizontally.
- Occasional bending, kneeling, or crouching.
- Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling object(s) weighing up to 50 pounds
