Position Summary
The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant takes patient history, examines, orders diagnostic tests, prescribes, counsels / educates patients, and promotes / delivers quality patient care in family practice setting. The NP or PA renders collaborative nursing care via the RHC Standardized Procedures, to a caseload of patients. Advanced practice nursing standards of care / practice and professional code of ethics are maintained per the medical plan of care. The NP or PA is committed to promoting the health potential of the patient (body-mind-spirit). Demonstrates ability to delegate appropriately and direct staff in the coordination and delivery of care; assumes responsibility for the appropriate utilization of care resources; demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships with others in problem resolution, is sensitive to the needs of patients, families, and fellow employees
Qualifications
Current California State License as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant is required
MSN required, unless grandfathered in as NP with BSN or a PA with a BS degree.
Completion of clinical preceptorship or at least 1 year of experience required.
BLS within one month of hire and on-going
ACLS and PALS within 6 months of hire
Interpersonal skills necessary in order to instruct / comfort patients / families; to maintain effective communication / contact with healthcare team members
Plytical skills necessary in order to prioritize workload and prepare nursing care plans, implement effective nursing care and develop solutions to problems concerning patient s body, mind, and spirit
Basic computer knowledge including : Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word and Internet
Computer software programs related to EMR.
Four 10 hour shifts per week
