Individuals in this clinical position are responsible for providing case coordination, brief intensive individual therapy and crisis intervention. This position functions as a member of a team to carry out the NLCMHA’s clinical, emergency and assessment services. This position reports to the Operations Manager or CMCO as assigned. This position provides no direct supervisory responsibilities.
- ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS :
- De-escalation of the current crisis.
- Assessments and identifying current strengths and needs of the child and family.
- Development of a crisis safety plan.
- Stabilization services to assist return to stable living.
- Skills training to minimize future crisis situations.
- Facilitation of inpatient hospitalization.
- Connecting to ongoing support services and / or other community resources.
- Coordinate with current providers.
- Short term follow-up including individual & family therapy.

Promote, educate, and outreach to agencies and communities regarding the FAST Mobile Crisis Team for Children.
Responsible for development, implementation and coordination of the protocols and systems of Family Assessment and Safety Team.
Rapidly respond to any crisis, emotional symptoms and / or behaviors in the home and / or community that are disrupting the child’s or youth’s functioning.
Provide immediate intervention to assist children and their parents / caregivers in de-escalating behaviors, emotional symptoms, and / or dynamics impacting the child’s functioning ability. This may include but is not limited to :
Effectively engage, assess, deliver, and plan for appropriate interventions to minimize risk, aid in stabilization of services, and improve functioning.
Enhance the child’s parents / caregivers ability to access any identified community-based supports, resources, and services.
Provide effective follow up care to assist in stabilization and reorientation to safe and healthy behaviors.
Prevent / reduce the need for care in a more restrictive setting (inpatient psychiatric hospitalization, detention, etc.) by providing community-based intervention and resource development.
Provide consultation to other community agencies and professionals (police, courts, medical providers, schools, etc.) as needed.
Collaborate with consumers interdisciplinary team as needed to review consumer needs and programming.
Participate in jail diversion activity as it relates to FAST services.
Participate in Quality Assurance case review procedures, including consumer satisfaction.
May participate in the Access function as assigned.
Provide crisis services in conjunction with Crisis Services Team as needed.
Maintain knowledge of mental health symptomatology, intervention, and treatment strategies.
Licensed Masters Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor or Psychologist preferred. Limited Licensed Masters Social Worker, Limited Licensed Professional Counselor, or Master’s Limited Psychologist considered. Additional certification may be required for specialized services, such as CAC, Gerontology.
Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Licensed Professional Counselor from an accredited university, or a degree in Nursing. Two years of experience in a mental health related field.
This position may require irregular hours. This position may require travel by personal vehicle if an agency vehicle is not available.
