What are the responsibilities and job description for the Caregiver at Adult Day Care Center position at northern light adult day services?
Northern Light Adult Day Services is looking for a Caregiver/Driver who can provide safe, courteous, and on schedule transportation to our participants AND providing security and protection for our clients. Duties of this position will escort our clients when they go out of the facility and help the center facilitators when needed as a security officer and also provide transportation services for our clients. As a Caregiver/Driver it is expected to work in conjunction with the Northern Light Adult Day Services program director to ensure that all participants are able to access transportation safely.
Responsibilities:
1. Follow the facility and transportation schedules and communicate with the program director regarding all aspects of participant’s schedule.
2. Transport and escort the participants with center vans.
(Participant's Home to Daycare, Daycare to Participant's Home)
3. Assist clients with ambulation and mobility
4. Be able to control your van with the many different personalities and different abilities combined
5. Perform security check
6. Provide escort for the clients when they go out of the facility.
Skills
YOU MUST HAVE CLEAN DRIVING RECORD
- Provide planned programs that will help older adult’s physical, cognition, social and emotional health
- Assist ADL such as help with snacks, feeding participants as necessary, ambulating, positional participants, dressing, and assist bathroom, etc.
- Maintain work operations by following policies and procedures
- Proven experience as a driver
- Excellent knowledge of emergency response and first aid (CPR)
- Knowledge of state of Alaska road laws
- Willingness to adhere to health and safety standards
- Respectful and compassionate
- Good time management skills
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong ethics
- Physical endurance
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience as a security office is a plus.
Qualifications:
- Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state and organizational requirements.
- Physical Requirements include: ability to lift a minimum of 20 pounds on a consistent basis.
- State background check clearance.
- Caregiving: 1 year (Preferred)
- Dementia Care: 1 year (Preferred)
- CNA (Preferred)
- Driver's License (Preferred)
- CPR Certification (Preferred)
- The driver required to have a current, valid Alaska State issued driver’s license.
- Drivers must maintain their ability to drive legally and be physically able to assist mild to moderately older adults who suffers with mental illness with access.
- Drivers must have the ability to lift at least 30 pounds without difficulty and be able to push or support up to 185 pounds.

Work Hours: Driver position is either full or part-time, as identified upon hiring. The organization core operating hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through SATURDAY
Salary: Range starting $18.00- 20.00/ PTO
