Job Description :
- Work schedule of 0700-1730, four 10-hour days, with after-hours call typically about once per week and every 4-6 weekends.
- Ideal candidates should have training in Cath Lab Interventional Radiology (IR).
- Responsibilities for RN include circulating in Cath Lab and IR, operating or monitoring hemodynamic monitoring / documentation systems, or performing scrub assist roles in the Cath Lab; circulating in the IR lab.
- Responsibilities for RTR include managing the x-ray table, operating or monitoring hemodynamic documentation systems, performing scrub assist roles in the Cath Lab, and operating x-ray equipment in IR.
- Typical workflow includes being assigned to one room per day (either Cath Lab or IR), with staff rotating roles within the room based on training.
- The RN is responsible for administering and monitoring sedation; the RTR manages x-ray operations in conjunction with the MD; both RN and RTR can handle scrub and hemo monitoring.
- After-hours call assignments occur usually one night per week and about every 4-6 weekends, averaging out to 4-5 nights per 4-week schedule.
- Preferences are for candidates capable of performing at least two roles, such as CL scrub or monitor, or circulating in both CL and IR.
- CL procedures include all typical interventional cath lab patients such as diagnostic, PCI, rotational atherectomy, shockwave, IABP, Impella, etc. Structural heart procedures are generally handled by a limited group of CL staff.
- IR procedures include work with vascular surgeons on peripheral angiography, fistulograms, tunneled catheter insertions, etc.; neurosurgeons on elective diagnostic and interventional neuro procedures (e.g., angiograms, coiling, carotid stenting, kyphoplasty); and radiologists on tubes, drains, TIPS, embolization, etc.
