What are the responsibilities and job description for the OB Hospitalist/Nocturnist position at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center?
Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center , a regional tertiary care and ACS-verified level II trauma center, is actively seeking an additional board-certified / board-eligible fulltime OB / GYN to join our busy hospital-employed practice in a Hospitalist / Nocturnist role.
The role :
- Approximately twelve 14-hour night shifts, with the availability of extra night or day shifts for extra compensation.
- Work alongside 8 physicians, 2 certified nurse midwives, 2 nurse practitioners, and skilled support staff.
- Provide routine and high-risk obstetric and gynecologic services to a patient population of approximately 500,000 people.
- Overnight, the OBGYN is responsible for triage, labor and delivery, antepartum, and transfer patients, as well as postpartum patients needing physician consultation, ED consults, and emergent GYN surgery.
- 24-hour access to Maternal Fetal Medicine consultation via phone, and on-site Anesthesia and NICU colleagues to care for our patients.
- Consultation services for the Northern Light Family Medicine residency program and rotating medical students.
There are over 1,600 deliveries per year at NL EMMC and we currently support a level III NICU. We are the referral center for two thirds of the geographical area of Maine and many patients travel 2 hours to deliver at our hospital.
Our hospital invested in a $300 million tower which opened in 2016. Our modernization project included a complete redesign of our Women & Infants unit including twenty-five private patient rooms, six new labor and delivery rooms, and two new state-of-the-art obstetrics / gynecology surgical suites to complement the level of expertise found at our medical center.
