The Northern Light Health RT Sponsorship program consists of the following benefits:
1. Employees accepted into the two-year accredited program will be awarded full tuition, books, fees and supplies paid for the Respiratory Therapy program offered through Kennebec Valley Community College (KVCC) or Southern Maine Community College (SMCC).
2. During the sponsorship timeframe, Northern Light Mercy Hospital will pay for the employee to attend class, labs and study, up to 24 hours per week.
3. During the sponsorship timeframe, the employee will work 16 hours per week. Employees accepted into the program will be considered full time and will be eligible to receive full time benefits.
4. At the completion of the program and licensure, the employee promises to fulfill a work commitment as a Full Time Respiratory Therapist with Northern Light Health Mercy Hospital for 3 years.
To be considered, candidates must start the admissions process through Kennebec Valley Community College (KVCC) or Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) or hold an acceptance letter for the KVCC Respiratory Therapy Program or the SMCC Respiratory Therapy Program.
Summary:
The role of the Respiratory Technician is limited to the following functions to fulfill the non-patient care needs of respiratory medicine department including, equipment cleaning, disinfection, equipment reassembly and allocation, supply stocking and auditing tasks. The Respiratory Technician provides respiratory equipment needs according to department policies and procedures.

Education
- Required High School Diploma/General Educational Development (GED)Technician must be currently enrolled in a COARC accredited associate degree program and student must have current BLS certification. The is a temporary position which will end upon the successful candidate graduation from the RT program.
