Job Summary:
Northern Light Medical Management is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Physician Scheduling with experience specifically in hospital-based radiology, to oversee the administrative operations of scheduling both remote and onsite physicians. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a proven track record of leadership in a hospital-based operations environment.
The Director of Physician Scheduling is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the Physician scheduling operations of a busy multi-state diagnostic radiology practice. This leadership role ensures that scheduling processes are efficient, patient-centered, and aligned with the practice’s operational goals and commitment to its hospital partners. The Director will manage scheduling staff, develop workflows, implement best practices, and collaborate with radiologists, technologists, and administrative teams to enhance efficiency and patient satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Scheduling Operations Management
- Oversee and manage the scheduling department, ensuring smooth and efficient appointment scheduling for both on-site and remote diagnostic and interventional hospital-based radiology services.
- Develop, implement, and refine scheduling protocols to maximize patient throughput while maintaining high-quality care.
- Monitor daily schedules to identify inefficiencies, optimize resource utilization, and minimize patient wait times.
- Ensure compliance with radiology-specific scheduling guidelines, insurance requirements, and regulatory policies.
Leadership & Staff Management
- Supervise and mentor scheduling coordinators and support staff, fostering a culture of accountability and teamwork.
- Develop and implement training programs for scheduling staff to ensure consistency, accuracy, and excellent customer service.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to enhance team productivity and morale.
Technology & Process Improvement
- Oversee the use of scheduling software, to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Identify and implement workflow improvements and automation tools to streamline the scheduling process.
- Work closely with IT, administrative and operational teams to ensure system functionality and address any technical challenges.
Collaboration & Reporting
- Work closely with radiologists, referring providers and clinical staff to align scheduling operations with clinical priorities.
- Analyze scheduling data and generate reports to assess key performance indicators (KPIs), such as interpretation volumes, turn-around-times, and staff efficiency.
- Participate in leadership meetings and contribute to strategic planning for the radiology practice.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in imaging, healthcare administration, business, or a related field. *Prefer technological background.
- 5 years of experience in healthcare, preferably in radiology or a high-volume medical practice.
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage and develop a team.
-Strong knowledge of scheduling systems, EHRs, and radiology workflow optimization.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to analyze data, generate reports, and drive process improvements.
Work Environment & Schedule:
- Full-time position, typically Monday through Friday, with occasional after-hours availability for urgent scheduling needs.
- Virtual-based role remote scheduling management, may need to meet in person for occasional team building or events at corporate office
