Description
Northern Manufacturing, a worldwide leader in stainless steel fabrication, is seeking a motivated and hard working individual to join our team. Day shift hours are Monday through Friday, 6:00am to 3:30am (45-hour workweeks).
Truck Unloading and Tagging:
- Unload all incoming trucks, ensuring the safe handling of raw materials.
- Tag all materials accurately upon receipt, following established procedures.
- Coordinate with the Inventory First Ops Lead and purchasing department for accurate material tracking.
Material Staging and Storage:
- Move tagged materials from the staging area to the appropriate locations in the yard.
- Organize materials based on type and frequency of use, ensuring the most common materials are stored for easy access.
- Utilize the yard layout effectively, placing materials in designated areas (Yard North sections B through G, with odd-numbered sections on the left and even-numbered sections on the right).
Yard Management:
- Maintain the accuracy and cleanliness of the yard, ensuring all materials are stored properly.
- Update material locations as needed, ensuring returned materials from lasers are correctly put away.
- Regularly conduct spot checks to ensure materials are in their designated locations and that the yard is tidy.
Machine Staging Throughout the Day:
- Ensure all machines (tube laser, saw, flat lasers) have the necessary materials staged not only in the morning but throughout the day.
- Coordinate with indoor material handlers to facilitate easy access to staged materials from outdoor staging locations.
- Prioritize material staging based on machine needs and production schedules, consulting the supervisor as needed.
Inventory Management:
- Ensure like-sized materials are stored together for efficient space utilization.
- Relocate materials as necessary to open up space for larger items.
- Keep accurate records of material locations and updates within the inventory system.
Support and Assistance:
- Assist with breakout and other tasks during downtime to support the team.
- Move skids and materials between operations to facilitate smooth workflow.
- Perform additional duties as needed to help move production forward.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills
- Strong communication and internal customer service skills
- Motivated self-starter with a solution-focused approach to problems
- Prior forklift experience
- Basic math and measurement comprehension
