This role is responsible for assisting in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician.
You will be interviewing patients, measuring vital signs, venipuncture and procedures as directed by the physician within the scope of practice in the State.
Documentation will be recorded in the Electronic Medical Record in accordance with IPM guidelines.
Preparation of treatment rooms for examination of patients and assistance in covering the front desk when required.
Responsibilities:
- Participating in decision-making and process improvement initiatives.
- Maintaining patient rooms, nursing station and storage rooms stocked, clean and organized, adhering to infection prevention standards.
- Distributing referrals to physicians and insurance companies, ensuring proper documentation of referral requests/responses in patient charts.
- Authorizing prescriptions and clinical tests as necessary.
- Telephoning/faxing patient prescriptions as needed.
- Scheduling Diagnostic Imaging studies, BMDs, dietician appointments, cardiology testing and radiology testing for patients, completing all relevant paperwork.
- Accurately performing clinical duties, including triaging patients, checking patient vitals, administering injections and venipunctures, and preparing patients for physician examinations.

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Medical Assistant certificate required
- Current BLS/CPR certification required
- Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Medical Assistant
- Fluent with medical terminology required
