This Lead Lab Assistant is full time at 40 hours per week, offers full benefits and a convenient schedule.  The lead phlebotomist oversees the blood collection / specimen receiving processes of the Laboratory on assigned shift.  Assists the Phlebotomy Supervisor with management of phlebotomy staff as needed. Performs venipuncture and skin puncture competently and expediently.  Has working knowledge of test requirements, assists in clinical laboratory.  Responsibilities include venipuncture, blood cultures and capillary blood samples.

 

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Draws blood competently, consistently and expediently with as little patient discomfort as possible.
  • Identifies the patient using the two-unique identifiers described in the hospital’s policy before services are provided.
  • Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors
  • Is knowledgeable about which color top tube to use and the volume of blood needed - knows test requirements.

Qualifications

High school graduate or equivalent.
State Laboratory Assistant licensure required
Current BLS certification
Valid drivers license
