Job Title : Surgical Technician
Job Specialty : CVOR Surgical Technician
Job Duration : 13 Weeks
Shift : Four 10-hour day shifts per week, Monday-Friday. Days to be determined upon arrival for unit needs.
Guaranteed Hours : 40 hours per week
Experience : 2 years of experience as a CVOR surgical technologist in first and second scrub; travel experience required
License : Completion of a surgical technologist program required
Certifications : Current BLS certification and NBSTSA certification required
Must-Have : Candidates must live 100 miles away from the facility.
Job Description :
- Meet the needs of the surgical team by having thorough knowledge of surgical procedures.
- Prepare supplies, equipment, and instrumentation for surgical cases.
- Anticipate the needs in the surgical field when passing instruments.
- Assist the surgical team in all procedures.
- Responsible for case clean-up, positioning patients, moving patients, and room turnovers.
- Adhere to established organizational confidentiality guidelines.
- Ensure customers' privacy and modesty by creating and maintaining a secure and trusting environment.
- Avoid careless or indiscreet comments that may damage patients, physicians, staff, and the organization.
- Obtain confidential information only when necessary for the performance of the job.
- Pull supplies / equipment / suture for assigned cases and open surgical rooms.
- Know all basic set-ups assigned to scrub.
- Conduct counts of instruments, sponges, and sharps with RN according to department standards.
Call is required for this position, with 10-12 shifts per month, including one weekend per month, dependent on vacations and sick call coverage.
