Candidates for the Family Resource Advocate position must have at least a high school diploma or a GED with experience working in the social services field. Candidates must also be willing to obtain Head Start Family Engagement Certification within 18 months of their hire date.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Social Services, Mental Health, Family Development or related field preferred.
- Must be willing to obtain Head Start Family Engagement Certification within 18 months of hire.
- Experience in the Social Service Field preferred.
- Ability to work with families in diverse situations.
- Knowledge of existing community resources.
- Valid driver’s license and properly insured automobile.
- Computer knowledge/data entry skills utilizing the Microsoft Office suite.
- Sitting, standing, climbing stairs, lifting boxes, driving, and ability to keep pace with children by moving quickly.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct recruitment, enrollment, and outreach for full enrollment at all times to ensure that center attendance reaches performance standards guidelines of 85%.
- Establish mutually respectful partnerships with families. This will include communication using appropriate verbal and nonverbal messages as well as reflective listening skills.
- Develop family partnership agreements with each family using strengths-based assessments that describe their goals, strengths, needs, resources and support networks as well as necessary community services and supports.
- Conduct regular home visits with each assigned family based on the needs of the family.
- Assist families with obtaining and maintaining health needs for children.
- Provide support and guidance for parents, including monthly parent meetings, program activities, educational opportunities, parent curriculum, and trainings; encourage and assist with family participation in all activities.
- Develop and apply working knowledge of health, mental health, disabilities, and child development in order to ensure comprehensive service delivery to children and families.
- Perform high quality documentation and submit paperwork and records in a timely manner.
