JOB TITLE: Accountant
CLASSIFICATION: Full-time, Exempt
COMPENSATION: Starting Salary $57,000
DIVISION: Finance and Operations

REPORTS TO: Vice President of Finance and Operations
SUPERVISES: None
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or other financial business-related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Three years of external federal or state appropriations management experience, or one year of direct state appropriations management experience
- Demonstrated ability to analyze, interpret and implement finance-related policies and procedures
- Demonstrated ability to understand and prepare complex data analysis and present data according to requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent planning, budgeting, financial analysis, problem-solving, and customer service skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least one year of higher education experience at the two-year college-level or not for profit
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position assists with the execution of the Business Office day-to-day operations. financial transactions regarding students, vendors, contractors, and staff members.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist with the development and execution of fiscal standards, policies, procedures, and systems
- Assist with planning, forecasting, and budget recommendations for annual operating and capital budgets along with reporting results
- Implement reporting processes to minimize financial risk
- Ensure all financial activity complies with all applicable rules and regulations of a non-profit, public, post-secondary institution
- Provide guidance to staff in all areas of business office operations to maintain compliance with federal, state, and institutional policies and reporting guidelines
- Maintain records of waivers, gifts, donations, grants, and scholarship assets
- Responsible for collection of aged or collection accounts and write offs
- Maintain chart of accounts and bank reconciliations
- Assist with accounts payable, fixed assets, payroll, and purchasing
- Maintain files for business office record keeping; ensure compliance with records retention policy
- Complete other accounting projects as assigned
- Promote positive College culture within the department through transparent ethical practices and effective communication
- Pursue continual improvement through work activity to increase efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity of assigned areas
ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to access reliable transportation for travel throughout services region
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to obtain the following clearances and training:
- PA Child Abuse History Clearance
- Pennsylvania Access To Criminal History Record Check
- Federal Criminal History Background Check
- Training Certificate - Mandated and Permissive Reporting in Pennsylvania

WORKING CONDITIONS/WORK SCHEDULE:
- Office Location : 300 Second Avenue, Suite 500, Warren, PA 16365
- Work hours: 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Thursday, and 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Friday
- Full-time salaried employees are expected to work 40 hours weekly
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
- Infrequent travel required
