Northern Pest is a veteran-owned, family-oriented small business. We offer a one-stop-shop experience for Pest and Nuisance Wildlife Control Services. We are growing and looking to fill new full-time service positions in the central Upper Peninsula (Greater Marquette and Escanaba areas) and Northern Lower Peninsula (Greater St Ignace, Petoskey, and Gaylord areas). Compensation & Benefits:
Starting/training salary: $36,000.00 (base pay for those with some work experience and skill) Production commission: Typically between $10,000 and $20,000 on top of base pay in the first year, depending on how soon you start the season and how quickly you train.
We have experienced techs making $75,000-$125,000 annually.

Training and Duties:
We will train you to identify, solve, and service various pest and wildlife issues effectively. We offer ride-along opportunities to candidates who meet our minimum requirements. This allows the candidate to observe a day in the field with an experienced technician and to observe the candidate as a possible fit for our team.
If hired, you will begin on-the-job training. You will operate a company service truck for new and existing customers. You will be trained to provide recurring services on routes, perform initial inspections, provide estimates for service and repairs, and invoice for services provided.
As a pest and wildlife control technician, you will learn to apply insecticides, use rodenticides, and humanely trap and exclude wildlife from and around structures in a safe and effective professional manner. We will help you study to pass the required MDARD certifications.
Requirements:
Obtain MDARD certification within 60 days of being hired. We will provide study materials and help you study to pass. (not hard if you can read)
Valid driver’s license with a reasonable driving record.
No pest or wildlife experience is required.
Physical ability and willingness to move and work on ladders, extension ladders, and roofs. (You can not be afraid of heights.) You must also be able to crawl into and inspect attics and crawlspaces in the heat of summer and the coolness of winter.
You must have a basic understanding of and ability to use technology such as phones, tablets, computers, software, and apps.
Participate in training opportunities and some travel.
We work some extended hours Monday through Friday and some Saturdays during the busy season (April-Mid-November). You will have plenty of time to recuperate during the slow season. We do what we must to keep up with the workload. You will not be asked to work Sundays.
High school or equivalent (preferred)
Ability to communicate professionally both verbally and in writing
Maintain professionalism about dress appearance and hygiene.
Ability to use and or learn to use and maintain tools/equipment and a clean, organized truck (responsibility/mechanical understanding)
Ability to work well individually as well as in a small group environment
Must be able to pass a drug test and background check. We are a smoke-free workplace.
Prior Military service with an honorable discharge is a big plus!
