Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Perform order entry tasks and related activities to support the medication dispensing process.
- Enter new and refill orders accurately and promptly based on assigned priorities.
- Complete all data fields according to pharmacy procedures, including the use of approved abbreviations, dosage, and day supply calculations.
- Ensure compliance with all state and federal guidelines regarding medication labeling.
- Assist customers and patients in a courteous and professional manner.
- Cross-train in all areas of the Pharmacy department.
- Consult with dispensing pharmacists regarding prescription order clarification, entry problems, or concerns.
- Follow all applicable government regulations, including HIPAA.
- Perform other duties as assigned; job duties may vary depending on business needs.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Licensed/Registered pharmacy technician as required by Maryland state law.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Previous pharmacy experience is required (one year in a retail pharmacy preferred).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and be flexible.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of medical terminology (including sig codes and Roman numerals), brand and generic names of medications, and general pharmacy terminology.
- Ability to perform tasks accurately and efficiently when inputting information.
- Ability to maintain composure on the phone when handling customer calls.
- Ability to provide excellent customer service.
- Basic math and analytical skills.
- Intermediate typing/keyboarding skills.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Must be able to work various nights and weekends as required.
You must be fully vaccinated and provide proof of vaccination at the time of the interview.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience using PioneerRX.
- Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Must be able to sit and/or stand for 7-10 hours a day and lift up to 25 lbs.
- Must have excellent customer service skills and enjoy working with the public.
