Northern Pike Veterinary Hospital is a family owned and operated hospital located in Monroeville. The hospital was founded in 1993. We are a very busy 6 doctor practice that sees small and exotic animals. Our current hours of operation are 8am to 6pm M-F and 8am to noon on Saturday. We are looking to hire a cheerful and self-motivated person to join our team!
The purpose of this position is to serve as a receptionist at Northern Pike Veterinary Hospital, and to provide miscellaneous support to the veterinary practice manager and health care team. This position requires a practical knowledge of the standard procedures, veterinary records and terminology used in the hospital.
These service functions include but are not limited to:
- Managing the appointment scheduler and check in process:
- Ensure patient appointment sheets are printed for the day.
- Entering client and patient information into Cornerstone.
- Knowledge of hospital procedures.
- Scheduling appointments in appropriate time slots.
- Familiarizing oneself with appointment scheduler for the next few days.
- Lobby management and control:
- Ensure lobby is kept clean and organized.
- Knowledge of where to put patients for their appointments (i.e. cats, dogs, pocket pets, exotics).
- Effectively managing multiple veterinarian’s appointments simultaneously.
- Identifying animals displaying or reporting common infectious disease symptoms (coughing, sneezing, diarrhea, etc.) and viral status of feline patients (FeLV/FIV ). Notify appropriate staff of the medical concern.
- Clerical duties:
- Client communication (i.e. phone calls, emails, confirming appointments).
- Checking hospitals voicemail and documentation of recorded messages.
- Entering medical notes/prescription requests into Cornerstone and ensuring they are addressed to the appropriate person.
- Obtain fecal results from fax and enter results into patient’s medical record.
- Ability to start and close a cash drawer.
- Collect client fees, post and record payments, process credit card transactions, and run end of day transactions.
- Ability to help close the hospital at night. This includes sweeping, mopping and helping with any other cleaning duties that may need to be performed.
