REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Listed with DHSR Nurse Aide Registry as Nursing Assistant I
- Current CPR (or attained with 3 months of employment)
- Attend Basic Dysrhythmia Course within 6 months of hire
- Attend NA 4 Class within 12 months of hire
- Ability to read and speak and English clearly and fluently as well as the ability to write legibly in English
- Customer service or clerical experience dealing with the public
- Computer experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Completion of unit coordinator/unit clerk course
- Medical terminology experience or previous experience as a unit clerk
- Previous hospital NA experience
- Listed with the North Carolina Board of Nursing as a Nursing Assistant II
- Phlebotomy training or certification
Performs various patient care activities and related non-professional services in caring for personal needs and comfort of patients. Works under the direction of the registered nurse. Frequent moving, lifting and positioning of patients as well as pushing and pulling of wheelchairs and stretchers along with additional equipment. Assigned patients may be from neonate through geriatrics. Performs computer entry and a variety of clerical tasks in relation to admission, discharge, transfer, and daily care of patients on the assigned nursing unit. Provides courteous reception to patients/families. Uses the nurse call/intercom system to answer patient requests and locate staff. Uses the facsimile machine and copier. Responsible for ordering supplies as needed. Maintains clean and uncluttered counter space and chart area at nurse’s station and patient rooms. Frequent interaction with physicians through paging, beeping, and processing orders. Functions in a cardiac monitor technician role following adequate training and competency verification.
