Ability to read and speak English clearly and fluently as well as the ability to write legibly in English
- Customer service or clerical experience dealing with the public
- Computer experience
- 59 correct keystrokes/min Alpha entry testing
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Basic Cardiac Life Support certification
- Completion of unit coordinator/unit clerk course
- Medical terminology experience or previous experience as a unit clerk
Performs computer entry and a variety of clerical tasks in relation to admission, discharge, transfer, and daily care of patients on the assigned nursing unit, under the direction of the nurse. Accurate computer entry of information is essential. Provides courteous reception to patient families. Uses the nurse call/ intercom system to answer patient requests and locate staff. Uses the facsimile machine and copier. Responsible for ordering supplies as needed. Maintains clean and uncluttered counter space and chart area at nurse’s station. Frequent interaction with physicians through paging, beeping and processing orders. Functions in a cardiac monitor technician role following adequate training and competency verification
