Salary: Per the FHEA Master Agreement Salary Schedule
Schedule: Beginning with 2025-2026 School Year
Job Summary: To teach appropriate grade-level content in Spanish while in an elementary learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.
Qualifications:
- State of Michigan Teacher Certification required
- ZG endorsement with K-8 subjects in self-contained classroom required
- Proficiency in oral and written Spanish required
- K-12 Spanish degree preferred
- Fluency in Spanish preferred. Achievement of a minimum of ACTFL advanced low language proficiency will be given consideration.
Essential Job Functions:
- Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
- Use relevant technology to support instruction.
- Successfully educate students on state and district standards.
- Plan and deliver effective instruction aligned with the district-provided curriculum in Spanish.
- Assess students' proficiency levels and adapt instruction accordingly.
- Create a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment.
- Foster respect and understanding among students of all backgrounds.
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to students as needed.
- Administer assessments to measure students' proficiency and track their progress over time.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate progress to parents/guardians.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices. Must meet professional teacher education requirements of school, district and state.
- Establish and maintain a positive and structured classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Attend staff meetings and collaborate with colleagues to improve instructional strategies.
- Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities.
- Adhere to FERPA regulations and district policy when working with confidential data.
- Consistent and reliable attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk, hear (in a quiet or noisy environment). The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust/focus. Work Environment:
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud to moderate. Work may be performed indoors and/or outdoors. The employee is directly responsible for the safety, well-being and work output of students.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to compare, analyze, communicate both orally and in writing, copy, coordinate, instruct, compute, synthesize, evaluate, use interpersonal skills, compile and negotiate.
