What are the responsibilities and job description for the American Culture and Language Institute (ACLI) Assistant Coordinator position at Northern VA Community College?
Availability to work standard business hours at multiple locations, with occasional evenings and weekends
This position serves as the American Culture and Language Institute (ACLI) Assistant Coordinator for NOVA Workforce. The overall responsibility of the ACLI Assistant Coordinator is to assist and support the Associate Director of Business, ESL, and TESOL Programs and the ACLI Program Coordinators in the implementation of non-credit English as a Second Language (ESL) programs at multiple locations.
Duties and Tasks:
- Assists in the coordination of non-credit ESL programs at multiple locations
- Assists in the implementation of program procedures and policies
- Assists in the coordination of departmental assessments
- Assists ESL instructors with NOVA technology
- Delivers ESL classroom instruction as needed, not to exceed 5 hours per week
- Assists in ESL student advising and registration as needed Performs other duties as assigned for the purpose of meeting the ongoing needs of NOVA Workforce
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
- Knowledge of ESL teaching methodologies and ESL program coordination
- Ability to build and maintain cooperative and collaborative relationships with NOVA Workforce staff
- Excellent communication skills with great attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks at once
- Ability to be flexible and work in a high-stress diverse environment
- Knowledge of Workforce Enterprise System (WES), PeopleSoft Student Information System (SIS), G-Suite, Canvas or similar systems
- Experience in assisting educational programs.
- Experience in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience working with diverse population.
- Administrative and customer services (in-person, email, and telephone) experience.
- Experience assisting instructors/teachers.
- Experience in coordinating ESL programs and/or teaching ESL.
- Experience working in administrative or operations support at a community college setting or in higher education
Employees must reside in Virginia, Maryland or District of Columbia.
