Job Description:
The Budget Analyst will provide technical, administrative, and project support, critical to the management of budgeting, financial reporting, budget preparation, forecasting, monitoring, and analysis.
Duties and Tasks:
- Analyze and verify financial information, prepare budget analysis and projections, and maintain accurate records
- Prepare initial budget entries and ongoing budget adjustments
- Provide administrative support to the Budget Office including utilizing independent judgement; answering routine inquiries; and maintaining knowledge of general office procedures to perform moderately complex office duties
- Establish and maintain departmental budget files; prepare fiscal reports; and update the Budget Office SharePoint site
- Independently collect, analyze, and report data that supports Budget Office financial analysis.
- Assist in the resolution of data conflicts within and between data sources.
- Develop methods to monitor data integrity progress and present corrective action plans
- Critical thinking skills and strong attention to detail.
- Working knowledge of governmental accounting.
- Demonstrated ability to research, investigate, analyze, reconcile, and evaluate large quantities of data.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize, effectively plan and coordinate multiple projects in timely manner.
- Knowledge of quality customer service practices, including excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work calmly under pressure and use good judgment at all times.
- Ability to work independently and to function in a team environment.
- Analytical skills to identify potential data integrity issues.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience utilizing fund accounting in an accounting and/or budgeting environment.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, Access or other database software applications.
- Experience with data entry.
- Administrative experience.
- Experience with customer service.
- Experience working in a Higher Education environment.
- Experience working with a data warehouse and/or data visualization tools/systems (i.e. Power BI, Qlik Software, SQL, etc.)
