Description: Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Director of Mental Health, or the Director of Mental Health, the position's primary responsibilities are 1) to be responsible for directing, planning, organizing, coordinating, and supervising the staff of the Mental Health Services Programs with minimal supervision.

Examples Of Duties

General Responsibilities to meet primary

  • Directing the Mental Health Services Programs;
  • Meeting with staff on a weekly basis to review current caseload, discuss program issues, and monitor program progress;
  • Providing ongoing direction for staff on a daily basis;
  • Providing direct clinical services which may include any of the following: individual and group therapy, family therapy, therapy with adults and/or children, and psychological testing;
  • Coordinating ongoing training for Program staff with the Training Director;
  • Developing and promoting a sense of teamwork among staff;
  • Providing staff with immediate attention and direction when a crisis arises;
  • Intervening on behalf of program staff with all involved parties, when necessary;
  • Meeting with Supervising Therapist to discuss clinical and administrative performance of staff;
  • Evaluating staff in writing 5 working days prior to the evaluation deadline;
  • Monitoring the review of case files on a monthly basis to insure that files are current and complete and overseeing documentation of all evaluation requirements;
  • Maintaining a solid working knowledge of all rules and regulations that have been established by state law, the Board of Behavioral Science, Medi-Cal, and NVCSS;
  • Meeting all reporting responsibilities within time frames established by program funding resources and NVCSS administration.
  • Developing and providing community service presentations to public and private agencies and organizations;
  • Preparing preliminary program budget outlines punctually, accurately, and within available program resources;
  • Implementing adequate controls to insure that program expenditures do not exceed program revenues;
  • Promoting programs in the community at a level sufficient to maintain a program that fully utilizes the available staff time to the maximum reasonable capacity;
  • Attending designated community service provider meetings;
  • Networking with appropriate community service providers and referral sources to maintain a positive working relationship with the community;
  • Developing and maintaining promotional activities that successfully market the program and recruit new clients;
  • Developing and implementing new programs that augment and supplement the primary program function, including research and grant writing;
  • Completing forms for program funding and all other required reports to funding sources and NVCSS;
  • Discussing program issues with the Head of Mental Health Services or the County Director on a weekly basis;
  • Keeping the Head of Mental Health Services or the County Director informed of all critical developments as these developments occur;
  • Performing related duties as required.

Skills, Knowledge And Abilities

Knowledge of and experience working with Medi-Cal programs, documentation, and billing procedures. Ability to give presentations representing the Agency.

Salary: Pay Range: $39.00 (Step A) - $47.47 (Step G), Exempt

Minimum Employment Qualifications: EDUCATION AND PRIOR EXPERIENCE:

Master’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling or related field required. Must maintain current registration by the appropriate California Board of Behavioral Science Examiners. Three years’ experience of progressively responsible administrative and supervisory experience.

Other: Work Schedule: 40 Hours Per Week, Monday – Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
