Schedule:
This is a seasonal position, running Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:15 PM, starting on June 23rd and ending on August 29th (please note there is no camp on July 4th).
Additionally, we host a Pre-Camp from June 9th to June 20th, Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 3:15 PM. While participation in Pre-Camp is not required, we welcome applicants who are available during this time.
Position Overview:
We are looking for a creative and passionate individual to join our team as a Summer Camp Art Teacher. This role is ideal for someone with a background in art education and a strong desire to inspire creativity in children ages 4 to 12. As the Art Director, you will design and lead engaging art projects, manage supplies, and mentor a team of instructors, creating an enriching and fun environment for all campers.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement age-appropriate art curricula and projects for children aged 4 to 12.
- Collaborate with camp leadership to seamlessly integrate art activities into the overall camp schedule.
- Lead daily art sessions, offering guidance, encouragement, and instruction to campers.
- Supervise, mentor, and support a team of art instructors, providing training and feedback.
- Manage art supplies inventory, ensuring materials are well-stocked for scheduled activities.
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where campers can confidently explore their creativity.
- Work with camp staff to organize special art-related events, exhibitions, and performances.
- Communicate with parents and guardians about their child’s participation and progress in art activities.
- Ensure adherence to camp policies and procedures, including safety protocols and behavioral expectations.
- Evaluate and adjust the art program as needed to meet the needs and interests of the campers.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with children in a camp, classroom, or recreational setting is preferred.
- Strong artistic skills and a passion for teaching and nurturing creativity in children.
- Exceptional organizational and leadership abilities.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team of staff members.
- Knowledge of child development and best practices in art education.
- Flexibility and adaptability in response to the evolving needs of the camp.
- A positive, enthusiastic attitude and a genuine love for working in a camp environment.
